Ravens Sign S Stewart

The Baltimore Ravens have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with S Darian Stewart, general manager/executive vice president Ozzie Newsome announced Friday. Stewart is scheduled to be in Baltimore on Sunday to take a physical.

Stewart, who has played his entire four-year NFL career with the St. Louis Rams, has appeared in 53 career games (19 starts). The 5-11, 214-pounder has recorded 141 tackles (94 solo), four sacks (-31 yards), one interception (returned 27 yards for a touchdown), 15 passed defensed, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery over the past four seasons.

Stewart originally signed with the Rams as a rookie free agent out of South Carolina in 2010. His best season came during the 2011 campaign under the guidance of then-St. Louis head coach Steve Spagnuolo, who is currently the Ravens’ assistant head coach/secondary coach. That year, Stewart posted 91 tackles (55 solo), three sacks (-23 yards) and one interception in 15 games (13 starts). In 2013, he saw action in 13 contests (six starts), compiling 36 tackles (30 solo), four passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
